• Meryl Streep: Amazing - as usual - Super acting with superior ability specially in comedy scenes.Great Ability on using face expressions.
  
  
• Alec Baldwin: Charming more than acting except in the dancing scene @ 1:00:00 (which is one of the most powerful scenes in this movie).
  
  
• Steve Martin: Comedy actor with greater ability in sad expressions. Although, his role in the movie was quite short.
  
  
• Lake Bell: Small role, can be removed from the movie without affecting it.
  
  
  
• John Krasinsk: The only young actor who gave a performance near the three Giant, amazing comedy actor with promising future.
  
  
•  Caitlin Fitzgerald, Zoe Kazan and Hunter Parrish: couldn't stand the mature acting from the three Giants. All of them depend more on their beauty and handsomeness than acting ability.

The film shows when a patient stays awake by his mind during a surgery. This case is explained in a thriller dramatic story. In which Dr. Jack Harper do a heart transplant surgery to his friend Clay after he has just married Sam. And Clay stays awake during the surgery and discover a lot of facts he didn't see. 

Characters:

• Terrence Howard was amazing in this movie with his innocent looking and quite voice
• Hayden Christensen was quite good but he didn't get the character well I think. In some scenes, he was so cold with no reactions at all. This phase may be normal after moving from a hit movies like Star Wars, which depend on the technology and visual aids more than acting, to drama movies which depend mostly on acting and script.

Still in on fiction character

• Jessica Alba, depends on her beauty and charm, which is not wrong, but she was very good in this movie. Specially, as her character is different from other role model characters she has done before.
• Lena Olin was amazing as clay's mother, which is confused between her fear abut her sick son and her worry not to break his heart by refusing his needs.
